The head of the Oxford Vaccine Research Division said he was confident in safety monitoring systems after the EU and British regulators backed the continuation of AstraZeneca vaccinations.

"We need to focus on calming people down. The process works, and security monitoring is actually carried out by the government. We should indeed continue monitoring, but in the end, we are fighting the virus and not the vaccine !?" said Andrew Pollard, the head of the Oxford vaccine department.

It should be noted that regulators say that despite reports that thromboembolism developed in several people after vaccination, the process should continue.

European Medicines Agency (EMA) evaluated data on possible thromboembolic complications in patients who got vaccinated with AstraZeneca and concluded that the vaccine against coronavirus is effective and safe. This was announced at a press conference in Amsterdam by the CEO of EMA, Emer Cooke.
