Azerbaijan to file lawsuit against Armenia in international court

Azerbaijan will file a lawsuit against Armenia in the International Court of Justice for violating the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Leyla Abdullayeva, made the statement.

"In the coming days, in addition to the lawsuit filed by Azerbaijan against Armenia in January of 2021, Azerbaijan is launching a lawsuit to prosecute Armenia for violating the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination," said Abdullayeva.

According to her, after Azerbaijan stopped the illegal occupation of part of its territories by Armenia, the Azerbaijani side described in detail and collected evidence of gross human rights violations against Azerbaijanis.

"This includes the persecution of Azerbaijanis by Armenia for deportation, torture, murder, and ill-treatment of Azerbaijanis because of their ethnic origin," she said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that more than a million Azerbaijanis had been forcibly evicted from their homes as a result of the Armenian aggression.

"The cities of Azerbaijan have been completely destroyed," she said.
