The Belarusian Information Ministry has presented a lawsuit demanding the shutdown of one of the most popular news portals Tut.by, Deutsche Welle reports.
The warnings issued earlier by the ministry acted as the fundament for the lawsuit.
Deutsche Welle says that the Information Ministry issued four warnings for the Tut.by news portal since August 7.
If the lawsuit is granted, Tut.by will be deprived of the media outlet status.
It means that its reporters will no longer be allowed to observe and cover emergencies, public events, and other significant developments.
The court session will be held on October 8.
Tut.by was founded in 2000, while it was registered as a media outlet in January 2019. It intensely covers the protests underway in the country since the presidential elections.
