President Biden provided an outlook about the country's ability to combat the coronavirus pandemic Friday while calling on Congress to move forward with additional stimulus relief measures, Fox News reports.

Biden addressed his administration's response efforts during a press briefing on two executive orders to provide food assistance to low-income families and protect workers' rights during the pandemic.

Days after the US surpassed 400,000 deaths related to COVID-19, the president warned the country had little ability in the near term to prevent spiking case totals.

"If we fail to act, there will be a wave of evictions and foreclosures in the coming months as this pandemic rages on because there's nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months," Biden said.

Biden plans to vaccinate 100,000,000 US citizens for the first 100 days of his presidency.

He also signed the enforcement of the manufacturing mobilization act during wartime, aiming to add the deficit of the goods required when combating the novel coronavirus.

As John Hopkins University reports, the number of infected increased by 188,9 thousand in the last 24 hours.

In total, the US sees more than 24,6 million coronavirus cases, with the number of the dead exceeding 410,000.
