Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Ankara rejects US President Joe Biden’s statement on the Armenians’ genocide by Ottoman Empire.
In his words, Biden’s words are based on populism.
“We entirely reject this statement based solely on populism,” he posted on Twitter.
“Words cannot change or rewrite history. We have nothing to learn from anybody on our own past. Political opportunism is the greatest betrayal to peace and justice,” Cavusoglu said.
President Joe Biden on Saturday became the first US president to acknowledge the killing of more than a million Armenians by Ottoman Turks more than a century ago as genocide.
