Former Afghan lawmaker Muhammad Mohaqiq said eight children died of starvation in the western part of the capital. The information is spread by "Radio Liberty."

"Poverty and hunger killed eight children in western Kabul," said the politician and noted that the Hazara community lives in this region.

Mohaqiq added that the Taliban that came to power did not provide an adequate standard of living for the people and called on the international community to help the Hazaras and Shiites of Afghanistan.

United Nations World Food Program Executive Director David Beasley said that the Afghan population could face mass starvation due to power outages by radical Taliban militants, drought, and the coronavirus pandemic.

The radical movement "Taliban" took the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, on August 15. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his chief of staff and national security adviser left the country. Ghani said he left the country to avoid bloodshed in Kabul.

The Taliban have declared Afghanistan as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
