The number of new coronavirus cases in Switzerland increased by 205 in one day, 86 more than the day before. In total, the country has 28,268 confirmed cases since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, according to figures published Wednesday by the FOPH.

At present, 1,217 people who test positive have died in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. This total refers to announcements from laboratories and doctors received by the Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP) until Wednesday morning. These figures may differ slightly from the cantonal data.

Of the 1,172 deceased persons for whom the data are complete, 97% suffered from at least one preexisting disease. The three most frequently mentioned preexisting diseases were hypertension (64%), cardiovascular disease (56%) and diabetes (27%).
