A year has passed since the World Health Organization officially declared the virus as a pandemic.

According to the latest figures from Worldometers, the number of people infected with the coronavirus globally is 118,680,603.

The United States leads in the rate of infections, with 29,862,124 cases of coronavirus.

India holds second place, with 11,285,561 people infected. Brazil is in the top three with 11,205,972 cases.

Russia ranks fourth in terms of infection (4,360,823). Fifth - Great Britain (4,234,924). There are more than 3 million cases in France (3,963,165), Spain (3,178,442), Italy (3,123,368).

The number of cases exceeded 2 million in Turkey (2,821,943), Germany (2,532,855), Colombia (2,285,960), Argentina (2,169,694) and Mexico (2,144,558).

More than a million cases have been reported in Poland (1,828,313), Iran (1,715,162), South Africa (1,524,174), Ukraine (1,425,522), Indonesia (1,398,578), Peru (1,387,457), the Czech Republic (1,365,724) and the Netherlands (1,133,474).

According to the latest data, a total of 2,633,218 people died from the coronavirus pandemic, while 94,288,177 recovered.

The World Health Organization recognized coronavirus as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.

The outbreak of pneumonia in China began in December of 2019. China confirmed that coronavirus was contagious and declared quarantine in two cities on January 21.

The first case of coronavirus got detected on February 26, 2020, in Georgia.
