Denmark supports imposition of sanctions on Russia

Denmark supports the EU sanctions against Russia for the poisoning of a Russian opposition politician Aleksei Navalny, Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod says.

As Deutsche Welle reports, if it is confirmed that Russia poisoned Navalny with Novichok, the EU will impose sanctions.

Earlier in August, Navalny felt sick in the airplane when he was flying from Omsk to Moscow.

The crew made an emergency landing. Navalny was delivered to the intoxication department of an Omsk hospital.

Later, he was transferred for treatment to Berlin, Germany, where the medical examinations showed he had been poisoned with a Novichok nerve agent.
