Paris's key attraction - the Eiffel Tower - will be painted gold, Lonely Planet reports, adding the repair work will be over in 2022.
The work requires much effort, as 19 layers of old paint must initially be removed from the structure.
About 50 million EUR will be allocated for the effort that will take about 60 tons of paint.
Allegedly, the reconstruction is associated with the upcoming Olympic Games, to be held in 2024.
