The European Commission has endorsed the decision of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union, according to which fully vaccinated citizens can travel within the EU. The representative of the European Commission, Christian Wiegand, stated at the briefing.
"We look forward to the rapid approval of this decision by the Council of the European Union next week," he said.
In case of a positive decision of the Council of the European Union, this permit will enter into force.
Earlier, the Portuguese presidency of the European Union tweeted that citizens and residents of EU countries who had completed the full course of vaccination at least 14 days before the trip would be able to travel freely within the bloc.
Reuters writes that the EU will expand the list of safe regions of the Union.
