Five countries, including Georgia, support extension of EU sanctions on Crimea

Five countries - Georgia, Albania, Macedonia, Norway, and Ukraine - have joined an EU Council resolution extending EU sanctions on Crimea and Sevastopol for illegal annexation by Russia. Information is available on the EU Council website.

The sanctions were extended until June 23, 2022.

Sanctions apply to targeted imports of products from Crimea or Sevastopol into the EU, as well as to infrastructure or financial investments and tourism services in Crimea or Sevastopol.

The sanctions were first imposed in June 2014 in response to an attempt to undermine Ukraine's territorial integrity and destabilize the country.
