According to updated data, floods in various parts of West Germany have killed at least 80 people, Bild reports based on the police.

Heavy rains caused by the cyclone "Bernd" caused the Rhine River to overflow, causing floods.

Six houses collapsed on the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Several more buildings are in danger of collapsing.

28 people died in Rhineland-Palatinate, 31 in North Rhine-Westphalia.

According to the Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler authorities, 1,300 people are missing.

However, law enforcement officials say it is too early to make a bad forecast, as it may be related to the disruption of mobile communication in the region.

A state of emergency has been declared in Ahrweiler. According to police, several cities have been cut off from the outside world due to the floods. Residents were forced to wait for rescuers on the roofs of houses.

Helicopters were used to rescue the victims. Volunteers provided significant help.
