In presidential election of Sri-Lanka the former Head of Defense is leading. Gotabaya Rajapaksa has already celebrated the victory. His competitors recognized the loss, though there are no official results yet.
Totally 35 persons competed to be elected. According to the inquiry together with Rajapaksa the former Minister of the government was leading.
Preliminary data state that Rajapaksa got 48.2% while the second place candidate got 45.3%. According to the information the candidate has already congratulated Gotabaya Rajapaksa with the victory.
It is the first election that take place after the terroristic act seven months ago. Then 250 people were killed. The country current president, Maithripala Sirisena is not participating in the elections. He decided not to compete after he became an object of international criticism.
In April the fighter associated with the ISIS attacked the religious and touristic objects. The government had to admit their inability in risk prevention as they failed to timely provide the information on possible acts of terror to the population. The act of terror was followed by economic decline affecting the touristic sector of the country.
The future president of the country, Lieutenant Rajapaksa is 70-year old.
