"The next pandemic can come any time. The world needs to start preparing for it now," Singapore's Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said in an interview with CNBC.
Tharman Shanmugaratnam is co-chair of the G-20 Global Expert Group. He published a report last week outlining measures for future epidemics and rapid response.
These measures include "better and more reliable funding" from the World Health Organization.
"We do not have the luxury of waiting for COVID to end because the next pandemic could start at any moment," said the G-20 expert.
