Christina Wurst, a scientist at Eurac Research, a private science center, along with Italian and Swiss colleagues, examined the remains of a mummified woman found in a church in Barfusser, Switzerland, Forensic Science International: Genetics reports.

It turned out that this was Anna Catarina Bishop, who was born in 1719 and died in 1787 in Basel. She had seven children, of whom only two survived.

Scientists identified her in 2018, though new technologies have now made it possible to find her relatives. These are siblings born in 1928 and 1938 in Basel and a native of Ohio, a relative of Anna Bishop's sister.
