Iran’s death toll from the global pandemic has risen above 54,000, after 132 people died of the new coronavirus in a single day.
The country recorded 6,021 cases in the past 24 hours to bring the total tally to 1,189,203.
The WHO labeled the novel virus a pandemic on 11 March 2020, with its outbreak starting in China in December of 2019. On 21 January, China confirmed that the new coronavirus is contagious and declared quarantine in its two cities.
