Italian health authorities unveiled on Monday that the country recorded 179 deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, raising the national death toll to 30,739. The daily increase was slightly higher compared to the two-month low figure registered yesterday.
Meanwhile, the number of daily infections remained under 1,000 for the second consecutive day as health officials said that 744 people were tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday's update. The growth in new cases was the lowest since March 4 as the country reached 219,814 infections nationwide.
A total of 106,587 Italian citizens successfully recovered from coronavirus since the beginning of the outbreak.
