NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has called on the parties of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to cease hostilities immediately. Jens Stoltenberg made the statement at a joint press conference with the Turkish Foreign Minister in Ankara.
According to Stoltenberg, NATO is concerned about the ongoing events in Nagorno-Karabakh.
"We are watching the situation closely. Of course, we are concerned when we see the escalation of hostilities, more fighting, and violence. We all receive reports of increased casualties, including among the civilian population...
Of course, all combat operations are risky for important infrastructure. So when you ask me about critical energy infrastructure, this is one of the reasons for the violent conflict that worries us. We must send an obvious message to all parties involved so that they can immediately cease hostilities. We must support all efforts for a peaceful settlement, as there is no military way to resolve the situation in and around Nagorno-Karabakh," Stoltenberg said.
