Joe Biden may appoint Afro-American as Pentagon head

US president-elect Joe Biden is considering a retired African American general Lloyd Austin as the future Secretary of Defense. The Independent writes about this.

On November 23, during his team's presentation, Biden did not name the Pentagon's future head. There were three initial candidates for this post: ex-Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, Senator from Illinois and retired Lieutenant Colonel Tammy Duckworth, and former deputy head of the Pentagon under Barack Obama Michelle Flournoy.

If approved, Austin will become the first Afro-American to serve as head of the Pentagon.
