Lukashenko: we will not retrocede the country

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko claimed that the country's current leaders are not planning to hand over the country rule to anyone and control over the situation to anyone. The President also said that Belarus needs to be ready to respond to any challenges at any moment.

"You know better than I what are the current country development. They are trying to step-by-step disorganize our society. I have talked about it many times and will repeat once more; it will not work… We have a normal government formed in compliance with the constitution. We do not need other countries' governments' and mediators' support. Do not mean to humiliate the heads of these countries, but I want to say: mind your own countries," – stated the President.

EU countries agreed not to recognize the results of the presidential election in Belarus.

Foreign Ministers of the European Union countries support the sanctioning of the persons involved in ordering violence against the Belarus protest participants, while the European Commission has developed the country crisis management plan

On 9 August, presidential election results were publicized in the country, with this followed by mass protest actions. The opposition does not recognize the 80% votes victory of Lukashenko. People took to the streets and protested against Lukashenko's government. Following the crackdown on demonstrators, more than 6,000 were detained, including journalists. Two protesters reportedly died.

On the background of the developments, the world leaders and international organizations expressed concern over the situation in Belarus while the United States and European Union plan new sanctions against the country.
