Emmanuel Macron, the President of France has denounced the defilement of the graves at a Jewish cemetery.
"Jews are a part of France and create it. Those who attack them, their graves, are not worthy of the ideas we share in France. Antisemitism is a crime, and we will fight it, in Westhoffen, and everywhere else, until our dead can rest in peace", reads the statement of Macron on Twitter.
The unidentified persons damaged graves of 107 Jews in Alsace, France, and painted them with swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans. The incident took place in the Westhoffen commune. A total of 700 Jews are buried in the cemetery.
