The High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, had telephone conversations about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. Borrell stated about the phone call in the European Parliament.
"Unfortunately, escalation of the conflict and the involvement of other countries is not ruled out. It could seriously undermine the stability of the region. I have discussed this situation with the Russian Foreign Minister and the Turkish Foreign Minister," Borrell said.
He also stressed that he had talked to the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia and received information from them about the actions. During these talks, Borrell emphasized the inadmissibility of civilian casualties.
At a session of the European Parliament, MEPs shared their views on the current developments around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
