The death toll reached 1,736 people in the United States last night, the highest rate since the day of the pandemic. Earlier, the death toll peaked on April 3, when 1344 people died in 24 hours.
According to Johns Hopkins University, there are 399,886 cases of coronavirus infection in the country. The total number of deaths reaching 12,907.
The highest mortality rate is still in New York, where the virus killed 4009 people. The number of recovering patients in the country increased to 22,000.
