The Japanese company VLP Therapeutics Japan has started clinical trials of a new vaccine against coronavirus. It is based on information, or matrix RNA, and requires fewer doses than existing vaccines, the NHK reports.
Like Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, the experimental drug is based on mRNA technology.
The company said the first phase of clinical trials began at Oita University Hospital.
It is already the fifth company in Japan to work on the coronavirus vaccine.
VLP Therapeutics Japan hopes the vaccine will be ready for use by the end of 2022.
