Hikmet Hajiyev, the foreign policy advisor to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, says that the Armenian troops 'grossly' violated the ceasefire agreement and attacked the Azerbaijani side.

The ceasefire violation claimed the lives of peaceful citizens.

"The Armenian Armed Forces' shelling of objects and civilians compactly living in the front-line territories represents a planned and deliberate action.

There are reports about the killed and wounded people among civilians and military service members of Azerbaijan.

Armenia's armed forces continue to shell our positions and settlements located on the front line.

Armenia, shelling settlements and civilians, grossly violates international law, including the Geneva Convention of 1949.

The massacre of civilians is a tactic that is part of the combat training of the Armenian armed forces, and the most striking proof of this is the 1992 genocide in Khojaly.

All these provocations by Armenia represent yet another act of aggression and the use of force against Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan's Armed Forces are carrying out the necessary counter-offensive measures to prevent the next aggression of the enemy and ensure the safety of the civilian population.

Our country warned the international community that Armenia is preparing for war and implementing another aggression act.

Azerbaijan also stated that Armenia's military aggression against our country and its armed forces in the occupied Azerbaijani territories represent the main threat to peace and stability in the region.

Armenia's military-political leadership resorted to another military adventure and provocation against the background of the debates of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly and the global fight against COVID-19, which demonstrated disrespect for international law, the UN Charter, and the international community.

Armenia's military-political leadership is entirely responsible for the current situation and the future developments," Hikmet Hajiyev said.

Tensions have been observed at the Azerbaijan-Armenia border since the early morning. The parties report fatal military attacks.

As Azerbaijani media outlets say, Armenia carried out a large-scale attack this morning that claimed lives, including a peaceful population.
