Over one thousand people are infected by coronavirus in Toennies meat processing company in Germany, Reuters informs.
Rhein-Westphalia's local government decided to place 6,500 staff of the company in quarantine.
The company owner told journalists that the coronavirus outbreak in his company is a serious tragedy for him and that the government did everything to support him. He apologized for the incident and said that he helped the local government with the information about his staff.
Reuters writes that the epidemic outbreak might cause the lockdown of Reine-Westphalia region.
Reportedly, Angela Merkel supports the decision of lockdown. She believed that it would help localize the infection and help to lift the economy of the rest of the country.
