Pope of Rome: Terrible tension in the air

The Pope of Rome conducted the service to cover the tense situation in the Middle East and summoned the parties to dialogue.

Speaking at the Sunday prayer at the Vatican, the Pope did not mention countries by name but spoke of a terrible air of tension that could now be felt in many parts of the world.

"I call on all sides to keep the flame of dialogue and self-restraint alight and ward off the shadow of hostility," he said.

On January 3, the USA military body killed Qassem Soleimani during the military operation, causing tension in the Middle East region.

The USA President, Donald Trump, says Iran has to take the liquidation of General Soleimani as a warning. On his Twitter, he wrote that Soleimani was a terrorist who had killed an American. Trump threatens Iran that the United States has “targeted 52 Iranian sites” and that some were “at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD.”
