Queen Elizabeth's cousin used ties with Russia for personal benefit: The Sunday Times

Journalists have convicted British Prince Michael of "trading" connections that gave way to Russian President Vladimir Putin, The Sunday Times reports.

Reports say the cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Michael of Kent, is accused of abusing his royal status.

The prince was reportedly ready to organize a meeting with the Russian authorities to reward wealthy clients.

Channel 4 says that Prince Michael promised business people that for £10,000 a day, he would organize a meeting for them with the entourage of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Prince Michael, 78, was awarded the Order of Friendship to strengthen friendship and cooperation with Russia.

He is fluent in Russian and has been to Moscow many times for business and personal visits.

The prince is not officially a member of the royal family and cannot claim the throne. His representatives say he has no special relationship with President Putin.
