A rare 15.81-carat pink diamond named "Sakura" was sold at Christie's auction house in Hong Kong for $ 29 million.
"The diamond sold for $ 29.1 million on Sunday, May 23," auctioneers said.
The estimated value of the stone embedded in platinum and gold ring ranged from $ 25 million to $ 38 million. The buyer's name was not disclosed.
Only 4% of the world's pink diamonds have a similar color.
