The world faces a record increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The World Health Organization says that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection is at maximum, over 292,000, during the last day and night.

John Hopkins University data read the total number of infected people to reach 17.106,007 globally. COVID-19 killed 668,910 people.

The USA, Brazil, and India are the leaders in the number of infection cases.

The World Health Organization announced the pandemic on March 11.

The first case of the coronavirus infection was registered in China, Wuhan, in the proximity of the seafood market, in December 2019. The Chinese government kept the virus's risks in secret from the population until the December end; and informed the World Health Organization about the infection only on December 31. The researchers say that by that time, the number of infected people was approaching 1000 while the government reported less.

The infection spread quickly from Wuhan in the rest of China and then in the world. By late January, the infection has already penetrated in 26 countries.
