Researcher claims to have found true tomb of Jesus Christ

Tom Meyer, a California scholar of Bible studies, claims to have found the actual location of Jesus Christ; the publication Express spreads the information.

He said the tomb might be located in two places. According to the Bible, Jesus Christ was crucified on Golgotha, near the walls of ancient Jerusalem. After the crucifixion, he was taken to a rock-cut tomb and covered with a boulder. Specialists believe that the Savior's tomb is erected here.

In addition, there is a place in the Protestant world called the Garden Tomb. Followers of this direction of the Christian faith have a special respect for it. Meyer, however, argues that the events attributed to this location never happened there.

"The Temple of the Savior, which was built in 326 and is located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City, is a tomb that has long been believed to belong to Christ. The Garden Tomb, which is also located in the old town, is considered an empty tomb of Jesus and is prayed for. However, a new assessment of the facts according to the Gospel rules out the burial of the Savior here," Meyer said.

A local farmer found the Garden Tomb in 1867. Later, scientist Conrad Schick said it was half covered with mud and human bones. It was suggested that this might have been the true tomb of Christ.

"It is also noteworthy that the inscriptions found in the Garden Tomb and the Greek letters used there date back to the 5th century AD," Meyer said.

He said no earlier Christian symbols were found in this tomb. Consequently, along with all other facts, this gives grounds to finally declare that the true tomb of Jesus Christ is located in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
