Health officials reported on Sunday that another 40,993 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Russia since yesterday's update, the highest figure since the pandemic began in the country. The total number of infections jumped to 8,513,790.
The death toll stands at 238,538 after 1,158 people lost their lives due to COVID-19 over the last 24 hours. On the other hand, the total number of people who recovered from the disease reached 7,358,539.
More than 56 million people in Russia received at least one coronavirus vaccine dose, while over 50 million were fully vaccinated.
