American scientists have made an interesting discovery in the body of an Egyptian mummy. The Journal of the Royal Society Interface writes about this.
According to the publication, the mummy of a 5-year-old child, known as the "Hawara Portrait Mummy No. 4," was examined by a combination of computed tomography and X-ray diffraction. In the abdomen of the mummy, scientists found a small object of calcite with steel wire.
Specialists say that this artifact got placed in the mummy as a spiritual amulet.
