"Russian military observers may monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Nagorno-Karabakh, but the final word belongs to the parties of the conflict," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Russian journalists.
"Not peacekeepers but military observers would be enough now. We think it would be right if our military observers were there, but the parties should say the final word," Lavrov said.
Simultaneously, according to the Russian Foreign Minister, the political settlement of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh should be carried out in parallel with the implementation of the existing agreements.
"The proposals that the co-chairs have developed and are still working on remain on the negotiating table. Their content is already known. It is a step-by-step, consistent liberation of the areas around Karabakh, guaranteeing and ensuring the security of Karabakh until the final status is determined," Lavrov said.
