"Dry nose and discomfort in the nasopharynx are the first signs of coronavirus infection," scientists from the University of Barcelona revealed. The results of the study were published on the portal medRxiv.
"The presence of these sensations may be considered both during diagnosis and for social distancing, especially in mild cases," the article reads.
The cause of these symptoms is damage to the epithelium of the nasopharynx.
A study of 35 patients with mild symptoms of COVID-19 found that 70% had this dryness. However, in some of them, the feeling of dryness was preceded by a loss of taste and smell.
