Greek police have found paintings by Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondrian stolen from the National Gallery in 2012. The theft suspect has been arrested, The Guardian writes.

According to local media, the 49-year-old Greek could not export the paintings to sell them on the black market.

Picasso's stolen painting "Woman's Head" is a bust of a woman in the style of Cubism. The Spanish artist donated the work to the largest gallery in Greece in 1949 for resistance by the Greek people to the Nazi occupation forces during World War II. The value of Picasso's painting, which he created in 1939, reaches 20 million euros.

As for the painting "Windmill" by the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian, it is a painting made in 1905 depicting a windmill.

Both paintings were stolen in January 2012 when it was being closed for renovation.

The theft of the paintings has been called the "theft of the century."

The National Intelligence Service participated in the investigation.
