A team of scientists and archaeologists have discovered the remains of a 2,500-year-old Aphrodite Temple in the Urla-Cesme peninsula in western Turkey.

Archaeologists found 35 ancient settlements, including 16 from the Late Neolithic period, after surveying areas in the Urla, Cesme, and Seferihisar districts of Izmir. In addition, they discovered the ruins of the temple of Aphrodite, which dates back to the 6th century B.C.

"This is an interesting and impressive discovery," said the head of the group of archaeologists.

According to him, Aphrodite - the goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, passion, and procreation was one of the most revered in that period.
