According to the Hong Kong University researchers, three antivirus and immune system strengthening medicines in combination shortens the time of the patients’ recovery, writes CNN.
Scientists state that the approach requires more tests, but at the same time, it can be considered one more possibility to treat coronavirus infected patients.
They speak about the medicament used to treat HIV infection – Ritonavir and Lopinavir. The mentioned medicines, in combination with antivirus efficient Ribavinir and Beta Interferon, used to cure multiple sclerosis, bring the rapid effect.
According to scientists, the test group participants have recovered within seven days with this combination of medicines.
The Head of California University, Peter Chin-Hong, say that the mentioned research is promising and that the researchers set hope on it.
At present, there is only one authorized medicine to treat coronavirus - Remdesivir, which is currently used by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention and many other countries. The medicines shorten the period of recovery, but its use is limited to specific cases.
