The Pope of Rome supports the UN Security Council’s ceasefire resolution and calls on the world for peace in the period of hardships, writes the Vatican News.
“The call for a global and immediate ceasefire is commendable, which would allow the peace and security essential to provide the humanitarian assistance so urgently needed,” - said the Pope.
United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution supported by the Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, demanding a general and immediate cessation of hostilities in all situations on its agenda.
The resolution calls on parties of armed conflicts to immediately establish a durable humanitarian pause of minimum 90 days to provide aid to countries to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
