In a separate telephone conversation with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor of the United States, expressed concern over tensions between the two countries and called for a peaceful resolution of the border demarcation issue, a statement posted on the White House web-page revealed.

Sullivan expressed concern over recent tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stressing that the military movements near un-demarcated borders are irresponsible and provocative.

He underscored the need for the two countries to conduct formal discussions to demarcate their international border. Sullivan conveyed the commitment of the United States to achieving regional reconciliation through bilateral engagement and as a Minsk Group Co-Chair.
