According to the World Health Organization, the novel coronavirus is as contagious for young people as for the old ones. The number of COVID-19 infected has reached over 270 thousand and continues to increase dramatically.

According to the statement made by Tedros Adhanom Gabries, Director of WHO, despite that the novel coronavirus is most risky for older people, it spreads very fast in young people as well. Based on the data from many countries, people under 50 represent a big part of hospitalized with coronavirus diagnosis.

“Today, I have a message for young people: You are not invincible. This coronavirus could put you in hospital for weeks, or even kill you. Even if you don’t get sick, the choices you make about where you go could be the difference between life and death for someone else,” Tedros said during his on-line press conference.

According to John Hopkins University data, there are 276,665 coronavirus cases in the world, 91,000 cured, and 11,419 deaths.
