The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) is working on the immediate launch of a mission in Nagorno-Karabakh. The representative of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations reports the information.
Asked whether UNMAS intends to assist Baku in the Karabakh minefield, a department spokesman said work was underway.
"The on-site needs assessment mission is expected to begin in early December," he said.
The head of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action said that the demining of territories controlled by Baku in Karabakh would take at least ten years.
