As CEO of the UN World Food Program (WFP), David Beasley says, in 2021, due to the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, the world may face the worst humanitarian crisis it has not seen for 75 years, DW reports.
"2021 tends to be catastrophic based on what we currently see," Beasley claimed.
In his words, dozens of countries face an imminent threat of starvation.
"Next year, we will fail to finance everything ... we will have to prioritize," Beasley added.
Earlier, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), called for an additional $4.3 billion to be donated to a global vaccine fair distribution program.
"It is a global crisis, and solutions for an equitable basis must be largely available," he emphasized.
