US, Turkey agree on formation of joint mechanism

US and Turkey have agreed on the formation of a joint mechanism to strengthen and improve bilateral ties, following a G-20 meeting between countries' presidents in Rome. 

Biden and Erdogan emphasized the importance of NATO and their strategic partnerships and positively assessed bilateral steps related to climate change. 

President Biden reaffirmed the partnership in the defense field and Turkey's as a NATO ally's significance. He also showed concern over Turkey's possession of the S-400 systems. 

Additionally, the two leaders focused on the Syria political developments, Afghanistan, Libia elections, the existing situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, and the South Caucasus.
