The United States welcomes the intention of Azerbaijan and Armenia to continue the peace process through direct dialogue. First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Dereck J. Hogan and Senior Director of the National Security Council for Europe Amanda Sloat told the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs: Stéphane Visconti (France), Andrew Shaffer (USA). It was announced at the meeting with Igor Khovaev (Russia).

They said the United States remains committed to continuing cooperation with the co-Chairs to assist Armenia and Azerbaijan in resolving all issues, including missing persons, as well as humanitarian demining.

The meeting participants discussed the success of the first joint meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia since November 2020, which was held within the framework of the UN General Assembly.

Participants also commemorated the anniversary of September 27 and expressed their condolences to both sides on the death toll.

In their view, only a comprehensive resolution, where all unresolved issues are discussed, can normalize relations between the two countries, and this will allow the people of the region to live together peacefully.
