The Sinabung volcano erupted at an altitude of 5 kilometers in Indonesia. Hot steam and ashes completely covered the sky and the surrounding villages.

Mount Sinabung is located in the province of North Sumatra. The volcano has been getting gradually active over the past week. Specialists observed 13 eruptions of ash and steam.

The evacuation of the population was not necessary. The activity of the volcano has not been a threat to the planes.

The 2,600 meters high volcano has been dormant for 400 years. It was first activated in 2010 with two people killed. Since then, the volcano has erupted two more times. Seventeen people died in 2014 and 7 in 2016.

Thirty thousand people have fled the surrounding area in the last few years due to Sinabung activation.

There are about 120 active volcanoes in Indonesia, located in the so-called Ring of Fire of the Pacific Ocean.
