"Vaccine equity is the challenge of our time. And we are failing. Over 82% of vaccine doses have gone to rich countries, while low income countries have just received 0.2%. In rich countries 1 in 4 have been vaccinated vs 1 in 500 in LICs,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.
He made this statement at the ECOSOC session.
The session was devoted to the issue of the vaccines’ availability.
"Money doesn't help if there are no vaccines to buy. Scarcity of supply is driving bilateral agreements which is driving inequity. This is the time for multilateral partnership." @DrTedros we agree! We need a #PeoplesVaccine https://t.co/VQPXkbXspY
