WHO: Cancel holiday events

Due to the spread of a new strain of coronavirus, "Omicron," the World Health Organization calls on the public to cancel the celebrations. According to Report.ge, the information is spread by the BBC.

"A canceled event is better than a suspended life," said Tedros Adhanom, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, at the briefing.

He said that everyone is tired of this pandemic and wants to spend time with friends and family, but difficult decisions have to be made.

"Everyone wants to get back to normal life. The fastest way to do that for all of us, leaders and individuals, is to make the difficult decisions to protect ourselves and others. In some cases, this means canceling or postponing plans," he said.

The director-general of the World Health Organization stressed that Omicron is spreading faster than Delta, but he hopes that 2022 will be the year of the end of the pandemic with the development of second-and third-generation vaccines, as well as antimicrobials and other innovations.
