Doctors in Singapore have discharged the world's smallest newborn. The girl spent 13 months in the hospital, BBC reports.

Kwek Yu Xuan weighed only 212 grams at birth. Her height was 24 cm. The baby was born much earlier in the term, at the end of the 24th week of pregnancy.

The mother of the child developed high blood pressure, which may have resulted in the death of the child and the mother. That is why the doctors performed a cesarean section 4 months ahead of schedule.

The doctors' prognosis was unfavorable, but despite everything, the child survived.

Volunteers collected almost 367 thousand dollars for the treatment of the girl.

She currently weighs 6.3 kilograms, and her life is not in danger.
